Role Overview
As a Kotlin/Android Developer at AMAST, you’ll play an integral role in developing backend systems. You will be given the opportunity to bring new experience, perspective and capabilities to our design discussions, helping shape our approach to delivering elegant solutions to complex mobile application challenges as we continue to grow.
Role Responsibilities
This is a full-time on-site role for a Kotlin/Android developer located at our new offices in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing scalable back-end web applications, designing and implementing software solutions, while writing efficient and clean code . The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting and debugging applications, and ensuring optimal performance of the web applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in agile development cycles: sprint planning, code reviews, and QA
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend architecture
- Collaborate daily with the Product Manager, Team Lead and other stakeholders
- Help monitor production environment with logs/metrics
- Design and optimize schemas and queries for MySQL or PostgreSQL databases
- Develop and maintain backend components
- Ensure code quality through testing, debugging, and optimisation
Requirements
- 3+ years of backend development experience
- Proficiency in Kotlin/Android
- Strong familiarity with MySQL or PostgreSQL—schema design, optimization, indexing
- Comfortable with CI/CD, test-driven development (TDD), and version control (e.g., Git)
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and performance tuning abilities
- Self-motivated with strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
